Ona Alston Dosunmu is an accomplished senior executive with extensive experience successfully managing growth and change. Ona established and currently leads the legal function of the Brookings Institution–an international $100-million organization. Recent experience includes navigating complex, foreign regulatory environments and mediating between different cultures to establish overseas centers, including Brookings’s latest in New Delhi, India. Ona brings extensive strategic leadership, crisis management and policy skills to the table. In her current role as Vice President and General Counsel at Brookings, she routinely advises executives and trustees—including corporate leaders and former senior government officials— on a variety of legal, policy and ethical issues. In private practice, Ona represented major corporations in multi-million dollar energy-industry transactions—both domestic and international—with global law firms.

Ona is currently on the Association of Corporate Counsel’s global governing board. She also serves on the fiduciary board of the Children’s Law Center, a nonprofit organization that supports children, youth and families in the District of Columbia.

She is a cum laude graduate of the Georgetown University Law Center and received a MA in Sociology and a BA in Journalism from Howard University.
