Alice Givens is Senior Vice President, Chief Legal, Ethics and Compliance Officer and Corporate Secretary of LL Flooring Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: LL), which she joined in September 2020. LL Flooring, headquartered in Richmond, VA, is one of the country’s leading specialty retailers of hard-surface flooring with over 400 stores nationwide. Alice is responsible for all legal, ethics and enterprise compliance matters for LL, including securities, corporate governance, executive compensation, corporate transactions, labor & employment, litigation and general corporate law. She is a member of the Senior Leadership Team and serves as Corporate Secretary to the Board of Directors. She is a “player-coach” who manages a team of two attorneys and two paralegals while also managing a number of legal matters directly.
Prior to joining LL Flooring, Alice served for four years as Senior Vice President, General Counsel, Chief Compliance Officer and Secretary of Ruth’s Hospitality Group, Inc. (formerly listed on NASDAQ as RHGI, now a subsidiary of Darden Restaurants, Inc.), a fine dining restaurant company. Before that, Alice was in-house for nine years with J. Crew Group, Inc., an omnichannel retailer of apparel, shoes, and accessories, where she served first as Senior Corporate Counsel before becoming Vice President and Associate General Counsel. Alice began her career as a Legal Intern at Circuit City Stores, Inc. where she held in-house legal roles of increasing responsibility for over ten years.
Alice earned her B.A. in government from The College of William & Mary and her J.D. from The University of Richmond. She currently serves as a Board Member of The William & Mary Alumni Association and previously was an Advisory Board Member of the New York Chapter of the Society of Corporate Secretaries & Governance Professionals.
